The Story

In a traditional Rajasthani household ruled by deep-rooted patriarchy, Rekha—the quiet daughter—and Rashmi—the educated, outspoken daughter-in-law—form an unlikely bond.

Despite their differences, both suffocate under the same rigid family norms that silence their existence. Their subtle acts of resistance slowly turn into bold defiance, stirring unrest in the house.

The patriarch, threatened by their awakening, cracks down harder in the name of family honour.

Director's Note

Deepankar Prakash draws on observations of traditional Rajasthani households to explore the unseen structures of authority, silence and control behind notions of honour.

Through Rekha and Rashmi, the film looks at small acts of courage, inherited traditions and voices that remain unheard.
